Examining rising suicide rates

Chief of child and adolescent psychiatry and MBI member Andres Pumariega, M.D., wrote an op-ed in the Gainesville Sun examining the role of inadequate funding in the United States’ suicide “epidemic.”

“The time has come for the American public to strongly advocate for mental health services to receive true parity in funding with other health care services. Given the mortality resulting from suicide and additionally from substance abuse, this advocacy is life critical.”
