Reaction to Alan Alda revealing he has Parkinson’s disease
Michael Okun, M.D., neurology chair and national medical director of the Parkinson’s Foundation, was recently featured in stories by USA Today and the New York Daily News following actor Alan Alda, 82, revealing that he has Parkinson’s disease.
Okun discusses living with the disease, treatments and more in the articles.
“The majority of patients are going to live good, long, happy, meaningful lives,” said Okun. “A lot of patients that I’ve seen feel that their lives became more meaningful (after their diagnosis) than before because they were able to define what meaning meant, and then they learn to live each day as their best day.”
