hony Russell, M.D., assistant professor of psychiatry, was included in a WUFT feature highlighting a former football player’s struggle with addiction that led him to the UF Health Florida Recovery Center.
In this WUFT package that includes video and a written story, Russell emphasizes the complexities of addiction and the need to seek expert care.
“Drugs are more of a symptom than the actual problem,” he said, “unless we treat the causes of that problem then they could just switch from one drug to another, whatever gives them the ability to change the way they feel.”
