Genes may affect the severity of CTE

JaffeeMichael Jaffee, M.D., vice chair and associate professor of neurology and director of the Trauma, Concussion and Sports Neuromedicine Program, recently commented in The Boston Globe about a new study by Boston University researchers hinting that a variant of a certain gene may worsen CTE.

“This opens up a window to understanding some of the processes that may be at play,” said Jaffee. “It’s a good start at expanding the conversation.”
