Blood tests measuring physiologic changes could someday be a great tool for neurologists and sports doctors in managing concussion. University of Florida researchers published findings from the Concussion BASICS project today in the journal Neurology that move such tests closer to reality.

“Our study was strong in that we followed a large group of college athletes, male and female, examining biomarkers in their blood both before and after sports-related concussion,” said Jay Clugston, M.D., UF Athletic Association team physician.
