The recently created Brooks/Hagood Family Scholarship supports promising young neurologists and neuroscientists specializing in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease research.
The MBI matches funds for the scholarship and the two current recipients work in the lab of MBI Director Todd Golde, Ph.D. — Hunter Futch, Ph.D., who studies the effects of stress and stress hormones on neurodegenerative diseases and Marshall Goodwin, who develops antibodies that bind to tau proteins in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients,
“The Brooks/Hagood scholarship has allowed the lab to fund experiments that would have been otherwise impossible to perform,” Futch said.
