The COVID-19 crisis has caused a rapid advance in the use of telemedicine for patients with neurological conditions.

In a new Viewpoint article in JAMA Neurology, Michael S. Okun, M.D., chair of the department of neurology in the UF College of Medicine, and co-authors discuss the impact of this change and its potential long-term effect on health care delivery.

“We hope that the telemedicine and remote monitoring advances will persist after the crisis has passed. Telemedicine for chronic neurological disorders should become part of the new normal rather than the exception,” said the authors.
