MBI Rising Stars: Dr. Didem Pehlivanoglu

Didem Pehlivanoglu, Ph.D., a postdoctoral associate in the department of psychology, is the latest investigator to be featured in MBI Rising Stars, a video series highlighting up-and-coming neuroscience researchers at UF.

Working in the lab of Natalie Ebner, Ph.D., Pehlivanoglu is conducting research focused on understanding whether people become more susceptible to deception in advanced age and, if so, identifying any cognitive, socioemotional and neurobiological mechanisms behind it.

By studying deception risk, Pehlivanoglu hopes to help protect the growing senior population against scams and fraud. Her research combines self-reported and behavioral measures with techniques such as recording eye movements, measuring electrical activity in the brain and collecting physiological and health-related biomarkers to better understand why some people are more vulnerable to deception.
