Scientific Director: Li Chen, Ph.D.
The MBI Computing and Bioinformatics Resource provides centralized support for MBI investigators to access and use UF’s HiPerGator supercomputing cluster. Staff help investigators obtain accounts, set up software environments, manage data storage and move from pilot testing to production workflows. Researchers are offered dedicated bioinformatics support for bulk RNA-seq, single-cell and single-nucleus RNA-seq, and spatial transcriptomics, including guidance on experimental design, pipeline choice and quality control.
Analysts assist with downstream statistical analysis, clustering, differential expression, pathway analysis and data visualization tailored to each project. Standardized, well-documented workflows promote rigor, reproducibility and integration with datasets generated by other MBI cores. Shared BioRender licenses and related tools — which support high-quality figure design, graphical abstracts and schematics for grants and publications— are also available. Together, these services lower the barrier to high-performance computing and advanced omics analysis for all MBI investigators.
