About the UF Neuromedicine Human Brain and Tissue Bank (HBTB)

This large repository of high-quality samples and adjacent lab space, overseen by the McKnight Brain Institute, supports research by UF faculty members and students. Samples from the broad collection are made available by request for approved research projects into neurodegenerative diseases, developmental disorders, and other neurological conditions. The collection of donated brains and blood samples as well as skin and cerebral-spinal fluid is carefully categorized and preserved to support precise, impactful studies, with the goal of advancing understanding and treatment of complex neurological disorders.

Biospecimen Request Process

  1. Contact Dr. Stefan Prokop (sprokop@ufl.edu) or Alex Crane (alexvogt@ufl.edu) with your inquiry.
  2. You will receive a link to a Biospecimen Request Form to request imaging, biospecimens, and/or clinical data. You’ll receive a confirmation email upon submission.
  3. Your request will be reviewed by the 1Florida Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center’s Biospecimen Review Committee, which meets every other month to evaluate requests.
  4. You’ll be notified of your request status.
