Through funding provided to McKnight Brain Institute by the Karen Toffler Charitable Trust for Neuroscience Research and Education Fund, the MBI established the Toffler Leadership Awards. To be considered for this award, faculty nominators and applicants must be MBI members.
These awards recognize excellence in neuroscience research and/or education by students enrolled in a Ph.D., M.D. or combined doctoral program at the University of Florida. We have dedicated $2,500 per year in support of this program and we anticipate that up to three awards will be given annually.
Students may be nominated for the award by faculty through a letter not to exceed one page, which the faculty should submit using the form below. Based on the nomination letters, the education committee will request a small number of application packages by March 15th. Students should not submit application packages unless they have been invited to submit. Examples of the application packet include a research paper, details of a conference that they have organized, or teaching evaluations; however, the body of work will depend on the achievement being recognized.
For questions, please contact Dr. Jada Lewis (firstname.lastname@example.org). Candidates will be evaluated by the MBI Outreach and Education Subcommittee, and the chair of that committee will oversee the process. Awards will be announced at a subsequent MBI Research Evening event and awardees will be expected to attend the presentation of awards.
