McKnight Leadership Awards

Through funding provided to the McKnight Brain Institute, we have established the McKnight Leadership Awards. These awards recognize excellence in neuroscience research and/or education by post-doctoral and clinical fellows as well as assistant professors who are MBI members at the University of Florida. We have dedicated $2,500 per year in support of this program and we anticipate that two awards will be given annually.

The funds serve to recognize postdoctoral fellows, clinical fellows and assistant professors who have shown outstanding leadership in neuroscience research and/or education. Individuals may be nominated for the award by faculty through a letter not to exceed two pages (submit through this webpage). Please give specific examples, where appropriate. Multiple nomination letters for the same individual are allowed. In the past, we have subsequently chosen finalists who were then asked to submit a packet demonstrating their excellence.  Given the inordinate burden the pandemic has had on early career researchers, this year’s winners will be chosen entirely from nomination letters.

For questions, please contact Dr. Jada Lewis (secretary@mbi.ufl.edu). Candidates will be evaluated by the MBI Education and Outreach Committee, and the co-chairs of that committee will oversee the process. Awards will be announced at a subsequent MBI Research Evening event and awardees will be expected to attend.
