As part of our commitment to celebrating the people who make the McKnight Brain Institute extraordinary, the MBI offers professional group portraits for member labs — at no cost. These photos are a great way to showcase your team, update your website or grant materials and capture the people behind the science.
Who’s eligible
Labs are eligible if the PI is:
- Listed in the MBI Member Directory, or
- An IDC contributor.
If you’re unsure of eligibility, email Jackie Hart (jhart42@ufl.edu) before booking.
Location
All sessions meet at UF’s Academic Research Courtyard.
- Meeting spot: UF’s Academic Research Courtyard (outdoors).
- Weather: If conditions are unsafe or unsuitable, we’ll coordinate a quick reschedule.
What to expect
- A clean, professional group portrait composed and directed on-site.
- No individual portraits will be taken.
- Quick arrangement adjustments to ensure everyone is visible and the composition suits your group size.
- Optional “fun” photo (gator chomp, funny faces, etc.).
- Please note: we do not Photoshop in individuals who are not present for the session.
Preparation tips
- Coordinate attire within your team (solid colors or UF/MBI-branded apparel photograph well).
- Avoid busy patterns and large non-UF logos.
- Remove photo name badges.
Frequency policy
To serve as many labs as possible, group photos are offered once every two years per lab. If your lab has a major change (e.g., new PI, significant team turnover, award/press needs), note this in your booking request to be considered for an exception.
Accessibility
If anyone on your team needs accommodations or has mobility considerations, mention this in your booking or email jhart42@ufl.edu so the setup can be planned accordingly.
